ECDOE Launches Fourth Phase of Basic Education Employment Initiative

The programme which is part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative has been successfully implemented in the Province for the past four years.

CELEBRATING TEACHING EXCELLENCE IN THE EASTERN CAPE
The Eastern Cape's impressive 84.98% pass rate for the Class of 2024 sparked optimism and motivation among stakeholders, highlighting the province's potential for continued success. Building on this momentum, the 2025 MEC Excellence Awards recently took place, featuring an expanded program that included a new category for special schools. A total of six schools received vehicles, and excellence in extracurricular activities was also recognized.

2025 PROVINCIAL WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS

GIVING OLD FURNITURE NEW LIFE.
The Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE), in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and Divert Steel, is making significant strides in ensuring that teaching and learning occur in well-furnished classrooms. Divert Steel's primary focus, as one of the 18 contracted partners, is to refurbish unused school furniture and give it new life. The furniture is then distributed to schools for use.
