PYEI Phase 4 Appointment delays
The Eastern Cape Department of Education Head of Department (HoD), Mahlubandile Qwase appeals for calm to all the candidates and schools who recently submitted documents for appointments of Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) candidates for schools, as there have been delays in processing such due to the recent national labour unrest which led to work stoppages.

MEC Gade hands-over ablution facility
The Eastern Cape Department of Education, MEC Fundile Gade unveiled the newly built facility that has 6 toilets for female learners 4 toilets for male learners with urinals, 4 toilets for female teachers and 2 toilets with urinals for male teachers, septic tanks with 500 litre wateranks.

Eastern Cape continues NSC pass rate improvement
The Eastern Cape Department of Education has continued with the improvement of matric results, with an increase of 4% from 76.8% of the Class of 2021.

MEC Gade Media Statement on the Class of 2022
However, the Class of 2022 did us proud with a 77.3% pass percentage, a 4.3% improvement to 73% pass of the Class of 2021. Given the high enrolments in the class of 2022, the total number of children that passed the National Senior Certificate stands at 73 386 making it 6616 more learners passing in 2022 compared to 2021.

Minister Angie's address during the Release of 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination Results
It is remarkable to note that the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo – the three most rural provinces in the country, produced a combined total of one hundred and thirty seven thousand, seven hundred and one (137 701) Bachelor passes, which is equivalent to 63.0% of the total Bachelor passes; and an improvement of 13.5% from the 2021 total Bachelor passes.
