EC EDUCATION MEC OFFICIALLY HANDED OVER A STATE-OF-THE-ART SCHOOL TO SATHUBE COMMUNITY The Eastern Cape Education MEC Fundile Gade officially hands over R70.85 million Matshaneng Senior Primary School to the Sathube community in the Joe Gqabi Education District. The newly built school features: - 19 classrooms - 4 libraries - Inclusive, user-friendly ablution facilities and urinal cubicles - Secure fencing and paving MEC Fundile Gade emphasized that this handover marks a significant milestone in enhancing education infrastructure, providing learners with a safer and more conducive learning environment. Ntombizanele Ntaopane, Chairperson of the School Governing Body, expressed delight, saying, "The new school is a beacon of hope for our community. It will ignite interest in education and fulfill the right to access. We hope the new facilities will attract learners from neighboring communities and retain our existing ones." Matshaneng Senior Primary School Principal, Maboka Ranthamane-Ranamane, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the department for the new facilities, highlighting the significant improvement they would bring to the entire community. "We are grateful to MEC Gade and thrilled about these improvements," she said. "Today, we have dignified classrooms and staff offices, a far cry from our previous mud-built structures. The new facilities will enable our kids to access labs and libraries, enhancing their learning experience with improved curriculum practicals." Grade 7 learner Puseletso Belebesi was overjoyed, sharing her excitement and relief about the improved facilities. "We are thrilled to receive our new school," she said. "We now have private and conducive latrines, a vast improvement from our previous situation where we lacked proper toilets and running water. I'd also like to thank MEC Fundile Gade for donating school shoes to our school." |
