Setting the Tone for Success: Provincial Curriculum Management Forum Concludes with Impact!
 
The Provincial Curriculum Management Forum which was held in Osner Hotel from 30 July to 01 August 2025 recently concluded a crucial accountability session for districts during Term 2 of 2025. The three-day meeting brought together key stakeholders to review and assess delivery strategies, analyze Term 2 results, to strengthen accountability mechanisms, and share best practices and innovative solutions among districts.
 
The Curriculum Management Chief Directorate facilitated accountability sessions and engaged in strategic planning discussions aimed at achieving an 88% NSC pass rate. The objective was clear: to drive excellence and improve education outcomes in the province.
 
Districts took turns presenting their progress and challenges. The focus was on collaborative problem-solving and driving excellence in education. Chief Director Chulekazi Xundu-Bula reflected on the importance of feedback from provinces, highlighting how it provided valuable insights into driving excellence and improving education outcomes.
 
Curriculum CES Ms. Yoliswa Mgobo noted, “This session was necessary for us to learn from one another,” reinforcing the forum’s purpose as a space for knowledge exchange and growth.
Provincial Accountability Session is a platform for setting the tone of growth and improvement for education. Deputy Director-General Ray Tywakadi emphasized the need to strive for the "#88%IsPossible" goal. He stressed that subjects needed to be matched accordingly and analyzed the results to profile learners effectively. According to him, Mathematics was a critical area that required attention, being the "achilles heel" of the curriculum.
 
The Provincial Curriculum Management Forum was a significant step towards improving education in the province. With a focus on accountability, strategic planning, and collaborative problem-solving, the forum aimed to drive excellence and achieve measurable results. 
 
As the forum concluded, Ms. Xundu-Bula recognized the top three performing districts for Term 2: Chris Hani East, Amathole West, and Amathole East, acknowledging their dedication and progress.
