The two-day session will reflecton the Chief Directorate activities of the year, identifying areas for improvement and develop a year plan for the coming year.

100 Days of visionary leadership

Woodhouse Primary Handover
MEC Fundile Gade has not stopped making strides for the learners of the Province in making sure that the teaching and learning environment is safe and condusive for them. The R80 million school which has an enrolment of 198 learners has been officially handed over to the community of Wodehouse village.

EC Education security training orientation
EC Education has partnered with the Disability Economic Empowerment Trust (DEET) in hosting a Security Training Programme for 700 Safety Patrollers in the Province. This collaboration aims at enhancing safety and security in schools ensuring learners, educators are safe at all times and as well as the safeguarding of school property.

The Eastern Cape Department of Education has issued a Memorandum to school dated October 29th , 2024 cautioning schools following the recent widespread reports of food poisoning and related deaths in the province.

Tapping into International expertise
The Eastern Cape Department of Education recently welcomed a team of Cuban Nationals into the Province at Mandla Makupula Education Leadership Institute (MMELI), in East London. In the year 2016 when the Government of the Republic South Africa signed a bilateral agreement in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Cuba on professional services in the Basic Education, both parties agreed to provide and utilize skilled specialists in mathematics and science. The Eastern Cape received four specialists to help subject advisors in turn they would be helping teachers improve the level of teaching and learning in the said field. The team convened at Chris Hani West District (CHW) and were joined by specialists and subject advisors of the CHW District.

Beware of unregistered schools protect your education
We are expecting the grade 12s of this year to enrol in tertiary institutions across the country. Falling prey to unrecognised institution must be avoided. Registration is a pre-requisite for accreditation by the relevant Quality Council. Unregistered schools can waste your time and resources. They halt your education, career, and future.
