Vocational Subjects Take Center Stage

The Curriculum Management Directorate, in partnership with Sasol, recently hosted the Vocational Subjects Competition at Port Rex Technical High School in East London. This premier event held on 30 & 31 August 2025 brought together outstanding learners in technical vocational subjects, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and knowledge. The competition provides learners with a platform to showcase their skills and knowledge in various technical vocational subjects.

Vocational subjects also provide learners with hands-on training and skills in specific industries. These subjects are essential in empowering the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the workforce.

"The Vocational Subjects Competition is a testament to our commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence in technical vocational education," said Pumzile Mashalaba, Acting Director: Math's and Science Institute. "By providing learners with opportunities to showcase their skills, we can build a strong foundation for technical excellence and contribute to economic growth."

The Sasol Vocational Subjects competition is made possible through partnerships with esteemed organizations including Sasol, which was represented by Mpolai Koloko, Education Execution Specialist, as well as Ncedisa Velleman CEO of the Siseko Artisan and Management Institute.
