Preparations to lay Bhisho learner Lathitha Nako are at an advanced stage

As today marks a week since the Eastern Cape Department of Education learnt about the untimely passing away of the16 year old Bhisho High school Grade 10 learner, Lathitha Nako allegedly due to bullying.

Various departmental teams have visited the home several times to engage with the family and conducting prayer sessions,  others led by the departmental management, while others by the leadership of the Province and National levels.

Furthermore, whilst all this was done, the department also took strides to protect learners of this institution from losing on their examinations as such, last examinations for the internal Grades are being written now.

A Memorial Service in honour of the deceased learner is planned for 10H00 am today, 26 November 2021 at the Methodist Church in Bhisho. 

Since different teams have been sent to the school to provide for psychosocial support services, an Assembly for the learners and educators was addressed by the Head of Department yesterday morning, November 25th, 2021.

The funeral service for Lathitha Nako will be held this coming Sunday, 28 November 2021 in her village of Tyutyu near Bhisho.
