The Eastern Cape Department of Education held Grade 12 Launch of 2022 Academic year in Ngqushwa, Amathole West District.

"The purpose of the launch was to formally introduce the new Grade 12 class, to the expectations that the district has of each and every Grade 12 learner in the district," said ECDoE Amathole West District Chief Education Specialist, Ntsikelelo Cakata.

Cakata added by saying, "We want to introduce the various support sections that we have in the district for instance Curriculum Support, Psychosocial support to learners and educators so that they know who to approach when experiencing challenges during the year, Most importantly we use the programme to motivate learners to pledge their commitment to focus only on their studies in 2022, emphasizing the importance of target setting, punctuality, regular attendance in all leaner support programs of the district".

Speaking on behalf of the Educators was Imidushana Senior Secondary School Educator, Luthando Mahinjana who said, “The launch that we had today means a lot to us as teachers and learners, the timing of this launch is perfect because it is preparing us to work very hard.”

The pledges these kids made today give us hope that we will make it further and the district's required target which is 80% will be met.

Response from the learners was given by Amazizi Senior Secondary School, Grade 12 learner, Anita Madlavu saying the district had been doing the Grade 12 orientation programme for the past 3 years and they had seen it worked towards improving the Amathole West District results.

Therefore, attending the orientation will make us the 2022 class, do better than the previous classes and we promise to rise the name of the Amathole West District to position one, concluded Anita.
