The Eastern Cape Department of Education in collaboration with Coega Development Corporation (CDC) officially handed over Krazukile Senior Secondary School to the community of Njakazi in Centane under the Amathole East Education District recently.
The school which now has new facilities such as six refurbished classrooms, two new classrooms and the construction of two new ones, new admin block, a new science lab, a combined library, computer lab,dinning hall, multi-purpose classroom, sports field, guard house, refuse room, parking facilities, 23 rainwater tanks and 3 elevated water tanks.
According to MEC for Education Fundile Gade the Department aims at improving education system by doing these collaborations. “We will not rest until our schools are a conducive environmental for quality teaching and learning for the benefit of generations to come” said Gade.
Amathole East District Director, Mavis Tolom said that the event marks a significant milestone in their district's commitment to providing quality education and empowering the future generation. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Department, our district officials and the entire project team for their tireless efforts in bringing this vision to life. Your dedication, expertise and perseverance have been instrumental in creating this state-of-the-art educational facility."

We urge our educators, parents and community members to work together to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment that fosters academic achievement, social growth and emotional well-being” emphasised Tolom.
Thembalethu Apleni who is the Principal of the school said with evident excitement that it is easier to work when working together especially the support of CMC Heads from across the District. “The new facilities at our school have created a culture of excellence and eagerness to learn has drastically changed because in 2023 our pass rate was 89.2% and in 2024 it went up to 95.1% making a significant increase of 5.9%. This shows that we are working towards reaching our goal of 100% pass rate this year."
