Newly-appointed principals inducted in East London

The Eastern Cape Department of Education is inducting newly appointed principals from the Eastern Cape at the Mandla Makupula Education Leadership Institute from the 19th to the 21st April in East London.

Mr Karimulla the Director for Quality Management System at the Department of Basic Education shared, "Quality Management System is a performance management system for school-based educators, designed to evaluate the performance levels of individuals in order to achieve high levels of school performance.

Karimulla pointed out that the purpose of QMS is to determine levels of competence, to enhance educators’ efficiency, effectiveness and good performance, as well as improve the accountability levels within schools.

Linda Gwele from Curriculum Management highlighted educations vision, " Our vision is to provide learners with opportunities to become productive, responsible and competitive citizens through an inclusive quality basic education system."

Gwele encouraged all principals to go through their own visions and missions weekly, to see if they are accomplishing what they have set out to achieve.

Gwele said; "Make it your goal to deliver curriculum with passion, develop all our teachers holistically and diversify to recover pedagogical losses."

In closing she said, "develop those leaders in your teachers."

Mzimhle Mabona, Assessment and Examination Chief Director encouraged the newly appointed principals to be the best that they can be.  

"There is a natural manager within you, who provides administrative and curriculum leadership, even if you don't solve problems, you need to be supportive and honest." 

Mabona touched on core points when it comes to managing assessments and examinations like the requirements, policies, regulations, and compliance. 

Mabona excitedly congratulated the principals saying, "Let me take this moment to congratulate all of you for becoming leaders in the core business of the Department of Education."
