New Chapter for Qumbu Village learners

EC Education MEC Fundile Gade officially handed over a brand-new state-of-the-art school to the community of Qumbu Village. The school, worth a staggering R58 million marks a significant investment in the education and future of the OR Tambo Inland Education District learners as it is a demonstration of the Department’s commitment to improving education outcomes and social mobility.

According to the EC Education MEC, Fundile Gade, the key aspects on the construction of these schools is to ensure that all learners have access to quality education regardless of their background or location. Furthermore, they are enhancing the quality of education through improved infrastructure and mordenised teaching methods. "I am delighted and honoured to hand over these school facilities representing a significant investment in the future of our children” said Gade.

A  proud parent of a Grade 9 learner and a community member, Veliswa Dawedi was overjoyed to see her child’s  educational dreams taking  shape. “This school is more than just a building, it is a beacon of hope, a gateway to opportunities and a promise of a brighter tomorrow for our children. We are honored to be part of this journey and eagerly await the remarkable achievements that will emerge from these walls” added Dawedi.

Two Qumbu Village Grade 10 learners, Oyintando Bantshi and Siphosethu Mkutyukelwa expressed their gratitude and excitement about their new school. “I am so happy and thankful for our new school, the modern classrooms and technology is amazing” said Bantshi while Mkutyukelwa advised learners to take care of their wonderful school by playing their part in keeping it clean and tidy at all times.
