As throngs of Eastern Cape learners descend to their respective schools on the first day of schooling, the department of Education in the province, MEC, Fundile Gade welcomes them (learners) back to the 2025 academic year.
The MEC hopes for a smooth first day since the department has set a solid foundation for 2025 academic year. This was done through ensuring deliver of all Learner Teacher Support Material including the transfer of the 2025 School Nutrition budget in 2024. Therefore, teaching and learning is expected to take place on the first day of schooling, this year.
Furthermore, Gade urges all School Governing Bodies and School Management Teams to ensure all 2024 learner report cards have been delivered to parents. This according to the MEC will ensure easy transition in schooling, and preparations of class lists by educators for the 2025 academic year.
The MEC also urges schools to report any burglaries and damages on school property to the districts for immediate support, as some areas are prone to severe weather conditions.
