The Eastern Cape Department of Education Covid 19 Vaccination programme is progressing well as more than 66% of the 75 769 Education staff in the  province have received their dose from the 66 sites. 
 
Currently, the sites are vaccinating outstanding school governing body (SGB) appointed educators, meal servers and general assistants including independent school Educators. This morning, all sites have reported a steady increase of those taking the jab.  
 
Eastern Cape Department of Education MEC, Fundile Gade urged those who have not been vaccinated to ensure that the do urgently. 
 
The department would like to encourage those at home to please consider vaccination  during this recess period before the set deadline of July 8th, 2021. 

This  can be received in all the department's 66 sites.  We also want to thank the many who have braved the cold and challenging weather to get vaccinated. 
 
To those who have not yet chosen the route of vaccine, the department urges them to consider being vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19. All staff members will be expected to resume their duties when schools re-open in the next term. 
 
The department  sends its gratitude to all frontline staff members especially healthcare workers for their commitment and bravery which ensures that the vaccination sites are fully functional.
