MEC Fundile Gade showcased remarkable community spirit by donating sports equipment to Mayaya Football Club which he used to play for back in the day in Dutywa, aligning with the inspiring theme: "Making Communities Safe through Sport."

This initiative acknowledges the transformative power of sports in fostering safer communities, particularly in smaller settings.

By introducing sports at a young age, boys can develop valuable life skills, promoting teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.

This proactive approach has the potential to significantly decrease criminal activities, nurturing a brighter future for the youth.

In his address, Gade emphasized, "A black child can be groomed through sports; education must also go hand in hand with sport. The effort we put into education must be equivalent to the efforts put into sport."

Gade has driven various initiatives, including education enhancement and social welfare programs, demonstrating his commitment to education and community development.

The Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDOE) reinforces its dedication to empowering local communities through sports, education, and youth development.

This gesture contributes to building a more harmonious and prosperous society.
