MEC congratulates EC team for winning big on first day of the 2024 ABC Motsepe SASCE National Championships

MEC has learned with such excitement about the success of the Eastern Cape Team at the ongoing champions in Randburg, Johannesburg.

Gade congratulates the four schools who won in different categories coming home with R55 thousand from the platinum sponsor of the SASCE Competition, the Motsepe Foundation.

“We appreciate the commitment of our educators, choir conductors, principals, SGBs and the officials of the Department together with our partners from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.

The business sector of our Province and most importantly the people of the Home of Legends our Province for their support and prayers,” said Gade.

 The MEC also thanked the learners for working so hard to make sure that they give the competition their best.

“Music is another form of making sure that learners learn descipline, morals and manners and this helps our learners focus on what is important.”

The Eastern Cape took first positions in the following categories: For Primary Special Schools: St Patrick's Special School secured the top position and was awarded a prize of R20, 000.

Fort Grey Primary achieved the first position for Sextet in Farm and Small Schools Only Category, earning a cash prize of R20,000.

For Boys Choir Caregory: Usenathi obtained the second position and received a prize of R15,000.

In the Mixed Choirs Western Piece category, Bisho Primary claimed the first position, winning a prize of R20,000.

Additionally, we are proud to recognize Mrs. K. Booysen from Bhisho Primary School, who was honored with the Best Conductor Award for her exemplary leadership and direction in the competition.

The MEC said that the BCM Education District has represented the Eastern Cape Province very well.

“We congratulate all the winners and participants for their dedication and hard work, and we look forward to more exceptional performances as the competition continues,” said Gade.

The competition has showcased remarkable talent across various categories, and we commend all participants for their outstanding performances.
