Amangutyana Administration Area community just outside Bizana in the Alfred Nzo East Education District was abuzz with activity as the MEC for Education in the Province officially handed over a newly built Ngcingo Primary School to the community yesterday.

Parents who were in attendance could not contain their joy and gratitude of finally witnessing this life changing moment for their community and more especially their children.

The multimillion building project forms part of the Goverments National Development Plan that aims at eradicating mud structured schools in the country.

According to the school Principal Bandile Tobo, the old building was constructed through community efforts and later on the Department provided three (3) temporal classrooms.

“The structure of the school posed serious teaching and learning challenges as space and safety was an issue because the school also utilised the mud structure until 2012 when the new structure building was recommended,” said Tobo.

He also added that the whole school community is extremely happy and thankful for the newly built structure.

“This school will now look like a proper teaching and learning facility and we are looking forward to better teaching and learning days,” said an excited Tobo.

The MEC for Education Fundile Gade applauded the District officials and sister Departments for a job well done in assisting the Education system on the eradication of mud structure projects in the Province.

“This school is a guarantee that our children in and around this community will now have a chance at a better future,” said Gade.

He also appealed to the community to safeguard and take good care of the school against criminals.

Siphosethu Mazaleni (13) who is a Grade 8 learner at the school could not contain her excitement about the ‘new school'.

It is my first time for me to witness such a grand experience of seeing the MEC, the Mayor of our Municipality and other stakeholders in our school all in the same day.

It feels like the beginning of the year to all of us as learners, we are so excited and greatful be to gifted with such a beautiful state of the art structure that will expose us to morden learning, said Mazaleni also promising that she will play her part in keeping the school in its neat and beautiful state.
