On the 21st of May 2021 at Mvomvo Lodge, the Department of Education in the Alfred Nzo West District elected its District Education Forum which seeks to ensure that consultative processes are upheld, and that transparency is the cornerstone in the Department so as to achieve the best education through a good culture of quality teaching and learning and an effective system of service delivery. 

The following members were elected from Matatiele, Kwa Bhaca and Emaxesibeni (Matatiele, Ntabankulu, Mt Ayliff and Mt Frere ) towns which constitute the Alfred Nzo West District. 

These office bearers are elected to serve in the office for a period of 3 years with the aim to ensure that the department produces quality results through the provision of quality education and finally produce the best citizens that the country can be proud of.

The following office bearers were elected from these stakeholders: - Government departments, Political Parties, School Governing Bodies, Labour Unions, Disability Forum, NGOs, Traditional Leaders, Council of Churches, and Top Management of the District.

The following are newly elected members: Chairperson - Mr Makaba N. (Teacher Unions), Deputy Chairperson - Ms Khakhaza A. (Sector Departments), Secretary - Mr Mapena M.  (Labour Unions), 2nd Secretary - Ms Tantsi N. (SGB - CMC) and additional Secretary - Mr Khathali (Youth League). 

The District Director, Mr GM Mbangeni and the outgoing DEF Chairperson Mr Motsapi congratulated the newly elected members. 

"In our DEF members, we have considered the Gender, Youth and People living with disabilities and they are more than capable to take our district to greater heights," said Mbangeni.

The forum is ready to be inducted immediately, after the alert levels have been dropped down to observe all the regulations and COVID-19 protocols.
