ECEAC Strategic session push for Quality Education The Eastern Cape Education Advisory Council (ECEAC), a statutory body that advises the MEC on education issues, recently convened a strategic working session in East London. The session brought together key stakeholders, including the Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign (QLTC), District Education Forum (DEF), and School Rationalization and Realignment program. The QLTC, led by Prof. Bongani Bantwini, was adopted as a subcommittee of ECEAC and a draft constitution was presented to align with national requirements. Lusindiso Mzimase represented the DEF, highlighting their role in addressing local education challenges through collaborative problem-solving. The forum also presented the outcomes of their district reporting sessions. Phaphama Mfenyana, School Rationalization Project Manager, joined the session to present on School Rationalization and Realignment. This initiative relies heavily on stakeholder engagement and support to drive a successful transition in the schooling system. He clarified the School Rationalization and Realignment program's focus stating that, "School Rationalization and Realignment Program is not about closing schools but it's about making sure that we provide quality education to all our schools." ECEAC’s working session demonstrated its commitment to making progress in the Eastern Cape's education sector. By engaging with key stakeholders and prioritizing quality education, the council is poised to make a meaningful impact on education outcomes and promote the well-being of learners and educators. |
