ECDoE launches the Second Chance Matric Support Programme

About 100 leaners from around OR Tambo Coastal District attended the Eastern Cape Department of Education launch of Second Chance Matric Programme held at Chief Hendry Bhokleni Senior Secondary School, Ngqeleni, OR Tambo Coastal District.

One of the attendees was the ECDoE Head of Department Dr. Naledi Mbude, OR.Tambo Coastal District Director, Thanduxolo Dyasi, and Members of the South African Police Services.

OR Tambo Coastal District Director, Themba Dyasi, gave the attendees a warm welcome and said, "I am very honoured to learn that our OR Tambo Districts have not been forgotten by the Education HOD most special, in such an amazing programme that will give hope to learners, who are upgrading their matric qualifications in our area and we will do our best to give support to them."

Keynote was addressed by the ECDoE HOD Dr. Mbude, she said " The programme launched 3 years ago, with the aim to offer support to learners attempting the two examination opportunities in May and November respectively."

The HOD also highlighted the second chance matric programme scope, in which she said the programme will be focusing on providing support to learners in 2 phases, 1st Phase to be written in May/June the 2nd Phase in November 2022.

Remarks on behalf of the learners was given by Gcobisa Makubalo she said, "It is very important to have a programme of this kind, because it will give learners another chance in pursuing their dreams and changing their lives and that of their Families."
