ECDoE Curriculum holds a five-day Standard Setting meeting

Eastern Cape Department of Education Curriculum directorate held a five-day Standard setting meeting, at the Nelson Mandela Teacher Development Institute in Algoa,Gqeberha,the from 5th to the 9th of February 2024.

The purpose was to acknowledge improvements made by each district in the Eastern Cape province, help identify Departments’ Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats and Opportunities as well.  This is objectively done to help Teachers in Schools prepare proactively and address issues at present and future.

The standardized setting approach has opened a playground for each district subject advisor to reflect and rectify the previous standard set by the class of 2023.

Therefore, future planning amendments were made possible through active participation and contribution from all the six (6) Eastern Cape Districts.

Each participating party contributed positively and purposely without compromising the quality of results.

Chief Education Specialists, Subject advisors and Subject planners decided on which effective plans should be utilized and which ones to get rid of depending on its efficacy, how to fairly distribute and allocate departments' resources.

Moreover, seventeen (17) Subject Advisors were added by the Eastern Cape Department of Education as the step forward approach, the department is taking to maintain and improving the quality of education delivered to our Teachers and Learners.

Acting Chief Director of Curriculum Mrs Chulekazi Xundu-Bula said, We hope that all the Subject advisors who attended the meeting will meditate all the information with their respective teachers, and support them in the implementation plans so as to make sure that as the province we maintain our improved results.

Reach our target set by the Education MEC Fundile Gade of 85%.

In addition, Mr. Moloa said, “It is an honor to have received such participation from all the Subject advisors, and I would like to congratulate the top three (3) performers of the Eastern Cape namely Alfred Nzo East, Alfred Nzo West and Chris Hani districts.”
