EC Marker succumbs to road carnage

The Eastern Cape Department of Education MEC Fundile Gade has learnt with shock the passing away of a marker, Mbulelo Kama (Maths Lit P2 marker) and a passenger who didn't survive the road carnage while travelling back home after being released on Sunday (19/12/21) at 10 am from the Middelburg marking centre.

The two in the carnage were Kama who is from Uitenhage and was a Maths Lit teacher at Ngubesizwe SSS, Engcobo, Chris Hani East district while the passenger was identified as Lunga Klaas of Ikamva Youth program in Grahamstown.

The two were involved in a car accident near Paterson and were later confirmed dead on the scene by paramedics.

While on another similar incident, two markers from the Phandulwazi marking centre were also involved in a car accident on their way home from the centre. 

The two markers were from originally from the Bethelsdorp comprehensive and Muir high schools. Both markers have been admitted to the St Georges Hospital in Gqeberha.

The MEC sends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, while wishing those hospitalized a speedy recovery.
