EC Education employees pledging their commitment to the sector

The Eastern Cape Department of Education has officially kicked off the new academic year, marking a fresh start for employees, learners, and the education community as a whole.

After the celebration of achieving the 85% pass rate goal the MEC for Education Fundile Gade welcomed employees back to work emphasizing the importance of teamwork, dedication, and innovation in achieving academic excellence."As we embark on this new academic year, I urge each and every one of us to recommit to our shared vision of providing quality education to the learners of our Province. Let us work together to create a conducive teaching and learning environment, support our learners' growth and development and strive for excellence in all that we do” said Gade.

Looking forward to pledge her support and contribution to a successful academic year is the Naniwe Mshumpela-Mtombeni who is the Assistant Director Human Resource Development, Performance Management and Development System and the Quality Management System unit. She said that the energy and enthusiasm to return to work full force is important as that helps one to focus on supporting teachers and learners in achieving excellence through quality education.

“For the year 2025 I have set some goals for myself as a way of putting in my little contribution to the quality of teaching and learning in the Province by making sure that my unit enhances PMDS to better align with the Departments objectives and to be committed to personal development by engaging in professional training workshops and pursuing new skills that benefit HRD team and the Education community” added Mshumpela-Mtombeni.

Examinations and Assessment Administration Officer,  Lusindiso Makibeni also committed himself to put in more effort towards his duties as an employee of the Department. “I am feeling rejuvenated and motivated after the December break, I am greatful to get another chance to try improve from last year” said Makibeni. He added by encouraging his fellow employees in doing whatever is necessary to making sure that the Department achieves its goals no matter how ‘little contribution is made’.

As a member of the Examination team, I am proud to be part of a team that is committed into making a positive impact on the education sector in our province. So Let us work together to create a brighter future for our learners" . Added Makibeni
