EASTERN CAPE EDUCATION TAKES A STEP FORWARD THROUGH STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION

 

The Eastern Cape Department of Education has taken a significant step forward in its pursuit of excellence, hosting a highly successful Strategic Planning Session led by Head of Department, Sharon Maasdorp at the Mandla Makupula Education Leadership Institute. Senior education managers and directors from the Office of the Premier gathered to align goals with the Department's vision and strategic targets for 2026/27, setting the stage for a brighter future in Eastern Cape.

According to the Director for Corporate Planning, Mandlakazi Nonkasa the session shaped the 2026/27 Annual Performance Plans, ensuring alignment with the National and Provincial medium-term development plans. "The outcomes will inform the Annual Performance Plan and operational plans, driving effective service delivery and paving the way for a brighter future in Eastern Cape education," said Nonkasa.

The HOD, Sharon Maasdorp set the tone for excellence, inspiring managers to drive quality education forward. "We are committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure our learners receive the best possible education, and our educators have the support and resources they need to succeed”, affirmed Maasdorp.

The Office of the Premier supported the department, with the Director for Strategy and Planning Unit, Nosiphiwo Soka unpacking planning guidelines and mandate papers. “Aligning our plans with provincial priorities will enhance service delivery and impact positively on our learners and communities”, emphasized Soka.

Acting Chief Financial Officer, Xoliswa Kese praised the Corporate Planning Office team and the Office of the Premier. "I commend the team for their dedication and hard work in driving this process forward. The support from the Office of the Premier has been invaluable and we are grateful for their partnership in shaping our strategic direction” expressed Kese.

"This collaborative effort marks a major milestone in the Eastern Cape Department of Education's pursuit of excellence and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on learners and communities across the province," Kese added.
