The Eastern Cape Department of Education Learner Development and Social Support Services Chief Directorate held a two-day planning session program at Mphekweni Beach resort from the 27th – 28th November 2023 for the 2024/25 financial.

The planning session is an opportunity for every personnel in the Chief directorate to be in one roof enabling them to look at pieces of Legislation that guides all staff members in their work.

The session also looked at target achievements, program performance, reasons for deviation and how to overcome non achievement in 2024/25 financial year.

When asked Chulekazi Xundu, Chief Director for Learner Development and Social Support Services, what the intended outcomes of the planning session program would be, she had the following to say, “It is to reflect on the activities of the year that is almost behind us to see what we did and how can we do them better, and also develop a year planner for the chief directorate as a compass for Learner development and Social support Services Chief Directorate.”

Elaborating more on the above statement was the Senior Manager for National School Nutrition, Verona Witbooi, she said, “the planning session forms part of routine government administrative processes for sound budgeting and prioritization of activities in the coming financial year using the current year as a proxy for performance achievements and challenges.”

“As Acting Chief Educational Specialist for Nelson Mandela Bay District, I feel the planning session is good in order to plan the activities for the following financial year 2024/25 enabling the Chief Directorate to have a calendar of Events which will leave as a compass of a direction,” said Andile Nogaga
