100 Qualified Unemployed Educators contracted as interns

The Human Resource Development Directorate with MEC for Education, Mr Fundile Gade Contracted 100 unemployed educators in an internship programme that commences in July 2023-March 2024.

This comes after the Youth Month celebrations held in Mthatha, at the launch of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), led by Lukhanyo Sidiya who is the Director for Human Resource Development.

The purpose of this internship programme was to provide work experience to the unemployed educators across the Eastern Cape Province, to train, develop and transfer skills to make them employable.

This programme is set to continue for 24 months, contracts being renewed from the 1st April 2024-31 March 2026.
