Gobinamba SSS is situated in the southern part of Port St. Johns along the coast.

The community of Qandu A/A, Phahlakazi Location, where the school is located consists the poorest of the poor. Most community members are unemployed and depend on a variety of government grants. the
school is classified as Quintile 2.

The predominantly Xosa-speaking community have low levels of education with only some having a primary or high school education.

Gobinamba SSS serves as a feeder school to four primary schools, however, learners from the entire OR Tambo Coastal District are recruited. There are also two secondary schools in this Education Circuit.
