The Eastern Cape Department of Education in partnership with ECSEC will on Thursday, 31st August 2023, kickstart a Maritime Education and Skills Development Summit at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC), at 08:30 am to position itself as the catalyst for proper skills production.

The two day summit to be attended by industry stakeholders is part of exploring and exposing the opportunities that exist in ocean's economy.

The summit themed 'Human Capital Development: A Lever for a Sustainable Maritime Future' will seek to expedite the significant role of the sector and it's position in advancing skills development, and training.

This summit is part of the Three Streamed Model which the department has been championing with various sectors. Additionally, it is hoped that the summit will also serve as a platform for the development of a blue print for the province to also tap into these available opportunities from the ocean economy.
