The Office of the Premier has reached a settlement agreement between the former Head of the Provincial Department of Education, Dr Naledi Mbude and the Premier.

This settlement was achieved following prolonged discussions between the two parties. The Premier withdrew all the charges that were leveled against Dr Mbude and Dr Mbude has since resigned from her position with effect from 03 May 2023, bringing an end to the employment relationship between the two parties.

While the OTP views this as a matter of public interest, the two parties have agreed that, in the interest of promoting conducive employer and employee relation, details of this settlement agreement will not be discussed in the public domain.

Dr Soyisile Nuku who was appointed as the Acting HOD for Education since April 2023 will continue to lead the department and the OTP will immediately engage on processes to recruit a new HOD.
